Our Story

How it all started...

Our movement started with a step of faith, a journey into the unknown, fueled by a vision from God.  Over 40 years ago North County Community Church was created to reach lost people and fulfill the Great Commission.

Led by Pastors Mark Brauss and Bob Levin in October of 1982 NC3 became the first planned spinoff from Clayton Community Church.  Along with 32 other believers they held their first service at rented facilities in Berkeley Presbyterian Church.  The church quadrupled in size in the first four years which created a space dilemma.

NC3 purchased 1st Baptist Berkeley in 1986 and growth continued. Then, in 1993 through God's leading the facility was sold and we purchased our present day property.

We broke ground on this facility in March 1995.  The first service was held in this building on December 21, 1996.

Expanding the vision...

…with new faces and a faithful handoff to new leadership.
The story of NC3 continues to unfold through God’s gracious provision and the steady expansion of its pastoral leadership. In 2020, NC3 called its first African American Pastor, Jay Jefferson, marking a significant moment in the church’s history. This transition allowed Bob Levin the freedom to retire in 2021 and devote his energy to other areas of ministry.

In 2023, honoring NC3’s long‑held commitment to Pastoral Plurality, our Youth Minister Jim Villalobos was elevated to serve alongside Jay as Pastor. This Spirit‑led transition opened the door for Mark Brauss to retire in 2023 and pursue the ministry closest to his heart — Mission Colombia.

With the baton of leadership now firmly in the hands of Jay and Jim, NC3 enters a new and exciting phase of ministry. Their shared focus centers on spiritual formation, leadership development, and the intentional expansion of God’s reach through NC3 into surrounding neighborhoods and the greater St. Louis region — all for His glory.

What will God do next?

We invite you to come experience what God is doing now and be apart of what He is going to do next in the life of NC3.
